BioSTEM II Students Bring Solar Learning to the Board!
At the September South Carroll Board of Education meeting, students from Mrs. Lindsey Cobb’s BioSTEM II class shared highlights from their recent field trip to Silicon Ranch, Carroll County’s solar facility.
Students created and delivered a PowerPoint presentation highlighting what they learned during their visit. They even incorporated comprehension questions to engage board members and spark conversation about solar energy and the concepts they explored. Using new technology, the students also produced a video to make their presentation even more informative and engaging.
Students who participated in the presentation were Baylee Barker, StarLynn Dixon, Cari Glosson, Lane Huey, Emily Merkel, Sara Roberts, Avery Taylor, and Lydia Vick.
Mrs. Cobb expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to take her students to Silicon Ranch, where they were able to see STEM concepts and skills applied in a real-world setting. The experience gave students an opportunity to explore how science, technology, engineering, data, and environmental considerations come together to address real-world challenges. The visit also provided valuable exposure to STEM careers and allowed students to connect their classroom skills in scientific inquiry, problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking to an authentic workplace.
We are proud of our BioSTEM II students for confidently sharing their knowledge with our Board of Education and demonstrating how hands-on learning can extend far beyond the classroom.

We will be celebrating Dot Day on Tuesday, September 15th!
Students are encouraged to dress in dots to help us celebrate. This can be polka dots, a circle or round design, such as a basketball or round logo.
During this week and next, our Art classes will be creating their own dot-inspired artwork. Be sure to keep an eye out for their creations, which will be displayed in the hallway.
